Adam has a background in mathematical modelling and policy analysis.  He is leading the Nuffield Trust’s work in evaluating the success of a number of initiatives designed to prevent avoidable admissions to hospital and care homes.  Such initiatives include telehealth and telecare, the integrated care pilots, selected partnership for older people projects, and community matrons.

Before joining the Nuffield Trust, Adam was based at the Pensions Policy Institute where he wrote widely on the UK Government’s recent reforms to state and private pensions.  He developed a series of economic models to help understand the effects of pension reform for particular population subgroups and for the taxpayer.  He was a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee for their enquiry into pensioner poverty.
