Jacob West is the National lead for the NHS England New Care Models Programme. He was the 2014-15 Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice at the Harvard School of Public Health.
His background is in public policy and health system leadership. Prior to his Harkness Fellowship, he was Director of Strategy at King’s College Hospital, where he led the takeover of a local hospital and helped establish a major integrated care programme.
From 2003 to 2010 Jacob worked in a number of roles at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, ultimately as acting director. He advised two Prime Ministers on public policy in a range of areas including health, criminal justice, and education.
Jacob has also worked as a senior policy advisor to the Premier in Queensland, Australia.
He has a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley and his undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford.
