Lorraine has been seconded to the Nuffield Trust as an SDO Management Fellow for one year from January 2011. She has come from NHS East Midlands where her main responsibility was to lead the policy implementation for people with long term conditions. Prior to working at the SHA Lorraine has had a variety of project management roles.

Lorraine has an extensive career as a health visitor working with children and families where she was involved in the major confidential research study looking at sudden deaths in infancy. Lorraine has a master’s in Public Health from Nottingham University and has received extensive continuous professional development in service improvement, management and leadership.

Lorraine is working on the Virtual Ward evaluation currently being undertaken within the Nuffield Trust, she will be working with the sites included within the study to mobilise knowledge and information and also looking at the implementation of the virtual ward in other areas nationally and internationally. A complementary research study will be designed and delivered during the summer following input from NHS managers and clinicians involved in the virtual wards. 

Whilst on secondment Lorraine will maintain her role as chair of the long term conditions SHA leads meetings with colleagues from other SHAs and the Department of Health.
