GP Care

Phil has 33 years’ experience as a GP partner. He chaired a PCT’s Professional Executive Committee for 6 years, during which time he was also National Clinical Advisor to the Modernisation Agency and chair of the local multidisciplinary diabetes partnership.

He chairs GP Care, a GP Provider Organisation providing a range of services to the NHS and primary care and is on the executive of its PMAF ‘federation arm’ it supports.

He is on the Council of the National Association of Primary Care and Chairs the National Association of Provider Organisations (NAPO) formed to provide support to federations and increase their potential to deliver more NHS services in the community. He is on the Governing Board of Primary Care Commissioning and has cosponsored ‘Collaborate’ working with NHSE to support primary care leadership development in Vanguards and New Models of Care.

Phil chairs the South West Clinical Senate which now subsumes the functions of the National Clinical Advisory Team. It plays a part in the assurance process for major service reconfigurations in the West Country and advises commissioners on contentious issues.

In his spare time he is a medic for clients of an expedition company going to remote and far flung reaches of the globe.
