The Nuffield Trust today announced two changes to its senior management team. Anita Charlesworth is leaving the Nuffield Trust to become Chief Economist at the Health Foundation. In her place the Nuffield Trust’s interim Chief Executive Andy McKeon will remain at the independent health think tank to lead its programme of work on NHS and social care finances.

The announcement comes ahead of Nigel Edwards’ arrival as Chief Executive of the Nuffield Trust in April 2014. Anita Charlesworth will join the Health Foundation in June 2014, while Andy McKeon will commence his new role at the Trust in April 2014.

Commenting on the changes, Andy McKeon said: “Anita has played a vital role in building up the Nuffield Trust’s reputation for high quality and rigorous analysis on NHS funding. We wish her well in her exciting new role at the Health Foundation.

“I look forward to building on the work of Anita and her team. As the NHS faces the tightest funding settlement in its history, the need for independent impartial analysis on finance has never been greater.

“This is an exciting time for the Nuffield Trust ahead of Nigel Edwards joining the organisation in April and further boosting our role as a leading independent commentator on the NHS and social care system.”

The Nuffield Trust has established itself as a leading independent source of analysis and expertise on quality of care, health and social care spending and NHS productivity. The organisation is addressing the scale of the financial challenge facing the NHS and how it can be met, examining financial performance across acute hospitals and other providers, as well as commissioning bodies.
