Bert Vrijhoef

Bert Vrijhoef is Professor of Health Systems and Policy at the National University of Singapore and the National University Health System in Singapore (Sept 2012 - present). In 2014 he was appointed by the Free University Brussels in Belgium as visiting Professor at the department of Family Medicine and Chronic Care. Bert is senior principal investigator at the Scientific Centre for Care and Welfare at Tilburg University and at the Department of Patient and Care at Maastricht University Medical Centre, the Netherlands.

Bert has been awarded Leading Researcher in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Maastricht University (2008), and he has previously received awards from the Federation of Patients and Consumer Organizations in the Netherlands (2007) and the Dutch National Organization for Health Research and Development (2006). He has authored over 190 inter-national publications and supervised over 100 Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. students. Recently, Bert was invited to become the Editor-in-Chief of the new International Journal of Care Coordination (SAGE Publications). He is also reviewer of various international scientific journals in the fields of medicine, nursing, and health services research.

Bert holds a Master in Health Policy and Management from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
