The Nuffield Trust Health Policy Summit aims to provide a forum for health care experts to assess evidence and experience from home and abroad, and to discuss and explore solutions to the challenges facing the NHS now and in the future.

For 2012 we moved the debate on from how new structures are being shaped to focusing on how the NHS can better respond to the challenges it faces, in particular providing high value care at sustainable cost.

The Summit provided an opportunity to hear and question the latest evidence and analysis on:

  • Finance and efficiency: considering the central question of how to increase the value of care funded by the NHS;
  • Global innovation: showcasing individuals and organisations from around the world that are leading significant change in innovative ways which help lead to sustainable health care.
  • Integrated care: examining how integrated care might best develop, offering an assessment of the current position, identifying any potential barriers and exploring how these can be overcome;
  • Risk: exploring how commissioners might develop and manage financial risk.
