This slideshow illustrates the key findings from a study conducted by the London School of Economics, commissioned by the Nuffield Trust, looking into expenditure on social care for older people in England from 2010-2022.

These charts are taken from the report: Care for older people: projected expenditure to 2022 on social care and continuing health care for England’s older population (December 2012).

This study forms part of the Nuffield Trust project: Buying time: what is the scale of the financial challenge facing the NHS & how can it be met?

The findings in the report are drawn upon in another Nuffield Trust report:A decade of austerity? The funding pressures facing the NHS from 2010/11 to 2021/22 (December 2012), which discusses the implications of these projections on future policy development.
