The structure of the health and social care system in England

This structure does not include bodies responsible for public health, clinical education and training, or blood services, all of which exist at a national level in each country; or professional regulators, which exist at a UK level. New care models such as multispecialty community providers join up aspects of the care provided by GPs and trusts. These are not shown.

English Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships are not statutory bodies, but rather groups bringing together the different bodies shown to draw up joint plans. The extent to which they have an ongoing role overseeing local systems is still evolving, and varies between regions.
