The Commonwealth Fund and the Nuffield Trust sponsored the eleventh annual meeting on the quality of health care, which was held in Boston, Massachusetts.
This invitation-only meeting, entitled ‘Moving Forward on an Ambitious Agenda for Improving Quality and Containing Costs’, brought together policy makers, academics and practitioners from both sides of the Atlantic for a high level discussion of key themes relating to health care quality.
The event, held under Chatham House rules of non-attribution, saw lively discussion of the challenges and opportunities presented by the new health care reform legislation in the United States, the NHS reforms laid out by the UK governments’ White Paper and an analysis of the levers to deliver change in both countries: financial incentives and payment reform; IT; comparative effectiveness research and organisational reform.
