There are over 100 million outpatient appointments every year. At a time when the NHS is under significant financial and workforce pressures, many hope redesigning outpatient services can have a substantial impact on efficiencies.

There are already examples of transformational change across the country – from GPs expanding services to avoid outpatient referrals to outpatient service redesign. Much of this involves making the most of technology – such as using remote consultations for follow up appointments.

In this context that the Nuffield Trust, in partnership with NHS Improvement, is running a one day workshop to bring together policy-makers, senior clinicians, outpatient managers and GPs with an interest in outpatient pathway redesign.

We will hear presentations from those that have already undertaken transformational change, as well as group discussions on how to approach redesign, what the impact has been, and what has been learnt from the process.

By bringing together a breadth of knowledge, expertise and perspectives this workshop will produce practical solutions, improve sector understanding and facilitate knowledge sharing.

Further details and speaker announcements will follow.

This event is invitation-only, but if you or your organisation are involved in outpatient redesign and would like to take part, please get in touch via events@nuffieldtrust.org.uk

This event is being organised by the Nuffield Trust in partnership with NHS Improvement.
