Our annual Health Policy Summit, now in its tenth year, will be held on 1 and 2 March 2018. Combining the latest evidence, analysis and thought-provoking discussion, the Summit allows leaders from across the health and care system to come together to discuss how best to respond to the major challenges facing the NHS and social care, bridging the gap between evidence and action.

The Summit attracts around 150 individuals including policymakers, senior managers and clinicians, politicians, and international experts, specifically invited for their expertise and knowledge. This creates a collaborative, problem-solving atmosphere with unique networking opportunities.

We hope that this year’s Summit will give delegates (and those watching the action via social media and our live stream) a useful and enjoyable opportunity to reflect on the pressing issues facing the NHS and social care, in a collaborative, problem-solving atmosphere.

  • We will be examining new evidence on public attitudes to the NHS and developments in acute medicine, while uncomfortably aware that evidence itself is struggling to hold its ground in a post-truth environment.
  • Acute, primary, integrated and social care all feature on the agenda, each with its own workforce challenges. And we have a bespoke session to determine whether workforce planning is, in fact, mission impossible.
  • We have a sideways look at patient experience, through the lens of NHS staff who have become patients themselves.
  • We look forward to hearing the perspectives of our international guests, Göran Henriks and Dr Julien Mousquès, and from Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England.
  • Most of our sessions will be live streamed to enable more people to benefit from the discussions. After the Summit, highlights including blogs, slideshows and speaker interviews will be available on the Nuffield Trust website at www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/summit

We are very grateful to all our partners and media partners for their support of the Summit.
