Simon Stevens to bring "great expertise, knowledge and experience to NHS England role"

The Nuffield Trust comments on the announcement that Simon Stevens is to become the new Chief Executive of NHS England from 1 April 2014.

Commenting on today’s announcement that Simon Stevens is to become the new Chief Executive of NHS England from 1 April 2014, Nuffield Trust Chairman Professor Dame Carol Black said:

"This is a great appointment for the NHS in England and we very much welcome the announcement.

"Simon has significant experience of the NHS and health care in general – he has worked in a number of leadership roles on both sides of the Atlantic running hospitals and primary care services, as well as commissioning.

Simon Stevens will remain as a Trustee of the Nuffield Trust until he commences his new role at NHS England on 1 April 2014.
