Christian van Stolk joined the Nuffield Trust as a Trustee in December 2014.

Chris is the Group Research Director of Home and Social Policy at RAND Europe, the European division of the RAND Corporation. Over the last decade, Chris has contributed to well over a hundred research projects mainly in Europe. He has also worked in the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. His main research interests are the interface between health and employment, evaluating the performance of health and social systems, monitoring public health programmes, social investment and policy, and governance in the public sector. 

Chris is an adviser on social policy to the World Bank and has worked with the OECD on how to improve governance in public sector bodies.

He has contributed to a number of UK Government reviews. Chris was a lead reviewer for the Boorman review looking at the health and well-being of NHS staff. He contributed to the Darzi review  on improving the quality of care and more recently led a review for the Government  on improving employment outcomes of those with mental health problems. 

Over the years, Chris has been a strategic adviser to one of the largest family offices in the Netherlands and he worked in banking for a period of time. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics. He is a core faculty member of the Pardee Graduate School at RAND.
