Dr Jessica Morley is a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University’s Digital Ethics Center. She has a BA, MSc and PhD from the University of Oxford and prior to working full-time in academia worked for the Department of Health and Social Care, and latterly NHSX, developing NHS digital, data, and AI policy. Her PhD entitled “Designing an Algorithmically Enhanced NHS” sought to identify the information infrastructure requirements writ large for the successful implementation of Algorithmic clinical decision support software into the NHS. Her research broadly focuses on how the NHS can capitalise on the opportunities presented by AI and data analytics whilst proactively mitigating the harms by designing policy to ensure AI development, deployment, and use is technically feasible, socially acceptable, ethically justifiable, and legally compliant.
