Mike is the Chief Clinical Information Officer at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, and provides clinical leadership as the trust advances at pace towards digital maturity, importantly with their current implementation of an electronic medical record.
He is a Consultant Nephrologist with a special interest in acute kidney injury (AKI) and has extensively researched and published in the area – the outputs of which have changed national policy. He has a PhD based on this work, which included the development of risk models to predict AKI, and assisted in the development and implementation of a clinical cloud-based communication and alerting platform based on social media technology. This fostered his desire to leverage technology to help facilitate the delivery of safe, efficient and quality clinical care.
Prior to taking up his role as Chief Clinical Information Officer, Mike was part of Cohort 2 of the NHS Digital Academy and completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Health Leadership from Imperial College London.
