Arts, health and well-being

This report examines the importance of the humanities in medicine and emphasises the place of the arts in health and wellbeing.

This report summarises the outcome of the Nuffield Trust Windsor I and II conferences on the Arts, Humanities and Medicine held in March, 1998 and September 1999 respectively.

The report includes the full transcript of the influential Windsor Declaration that made important recommendations in the fields of professional education, arts therapies and creative environments and the place of the arts in community development and health. It also points the way forward in the development of the humanities in health care, a new inter-discipline of increasing significance.
