This QualityWatch briefing looks at the data available from the diverse range of organisations providing community-based health services.

It concludes that it is difficult to make a meaningful statement about the overall quality of care, because of a lack of routinely available quality data and national indicators of quality.

This is despite the fact that national policymakers have identified community services as increasingly important for the future provision of health care, as services more away from hospitals and closer to people’s homes.
