The reports in this collection of papers cover the same broad subject (equity in health care) in very different ways. These include an ethical perspective on the relationship between health care provision and public morality and an economic perspective on patient choice.

The final chapter is by Simon Stevens, the Prime Minister’s Health Policy Adviser, on the development of patient choice within the NHS. Other authors include Tom Sorrell, Stephen Harrison, Alan Williams, Julian Le Grand, Alastair Campbell, Rudolf Klein, Albert Weale, Raanan Gillon and Hugh Gravelle.
