The seminar was intended to reflect the belief by many in both the professions that the progressive divergence between the two disciplines has extended too far and lasted too long.
Explanations to account for this behaviour are readily forthcoming and topics for the seminar were selected as a means of introducing discussions intended to improve the existing poor relationship.
