Over the past few decades, research in health and health care has been an important area of interest across a wide range of disciplinary perspectives.

Those who have been engaged in these efforts often have rich stories to relate on how they became involved in this area, their views on the development of health and health care research, and the lessons they have learned.

This collection brings together the personal histories of twelve eminent specialists in the field. The authors, namely David Blane, Mike Bury, Anna Coote, Sir John Grimley Evans, Raanan Gillon, Walter Holland, Alison Kitson, Rudolf Klein, Robert Maxwell, Jennie Popay, Albert Weale and Alan Williams, are drawn from a variety of different disciplines, and all have been at the forefront of health-related research and/or policy.

Their experiences and knowledge serve as a valuable resource, and it is hoped that their stories will be of interest to all those interested in health-related research and health policy.
