As the world shrinks and nations become increasingly more interconnected, no one nation can afford to turn inward and focus solely on health status, health professions education, or health system development and enhancement simply for the sake of its own citizenry. Rather, economic globalization, rapid air travel, the shifting of national borders, and the new and enhanced communications systems all point to the many ways in which health and health care are being altered at the global level.
The themes addressed, and reported in this book are: experiences in the field of global informatics; emerging infections; recent medical advances; and developments.
