More than a century ago, Little (1843-4) described a whole range of handicapping conditions of the central nervous system which could be caused by adverse factors acting before, during, or soon after a child's birth.
Obstetricians and paediatricians are becoming increasingly concerned about the quality rather than the mere quantity of the survivors of the perinatal period.
The objective of this report is to understand the roads we must take if we want to improve the quality of our community's children.
