The radical re-formation of the administrative arrangements of the NHS that took place in 1973-74 were of some different character and therefore have different stresses from that of 1947-48.
The report aims to investigate how problems addressed in medical care in the first years of the reformed NHS could mould the nature and direction of medical care in the future.
