During the 750 years of its existence, practioners of the 'Sanguine Mystery' have done much to advance this department of the healing art.

The report discusses methods and techniques of surgery modern and old. It considers the hospital facilities and staffing arrangements which are neccessary for the proper performance of surgery and the training surgeons need.

A review of the ultimate purpose of surgery is given and the justification for some of the things surgeons do are questioned.
