The 2011 Summit provided a forum for health leaders to hear rigorous evidence and international experience, and to discuss and explore solutions to the challenges facing the NHS now and in the future.
The summit focused on three key areas that are central to the NHS reform agenda:
- Commissioning: understanding how commissioning can be strengthened and highlighting international innovations;
- Market mechanisms: assessing what type of competition has most impact and how competition policy should develop;
- Unleashing dynamism: exploring how people and organisations can become more effective to meet the challenges ahead, with a focus on incentives, information, leadership and policy.
