Nuffield Trust Chair Andy McKeon has today (Friday 6 December) announced the appointment of two new trustees, Professor David Oliver and Thea Stein, to the Nuffield Trust Board.

Professor David Oliver is a consultant geriatrician and general physician at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and Visiting Professor at City University. He also writes a weekly column for the British Medical Journal. David’s past roles include being Clinical Vice-President of the Royal College of Physicians, where he is now a trustee. He was also National Clinical Director for the Department of Health on Older People’s Services and President of the British Geriatrics Society.

Thea Stein is the Chief Executive at Leeds Community Health Care Trust and formerly Chief Executive Carers Trust, Yorkshire Forward and North East Leeds Primary Care Trust. Thea has also held a number of non-executive roles in housing organisations and academia.

Commenting on their appointment, Nuffield Trust Chair Andy McKeon said:

“We are very pleased to be welcoming two further Trustees to the Nuffield Trust, Professor David Oliver and Thea Stein. David’s extensive experience as a leading hospital doctor, academic and policy commentator, and Thea’s significant experience as a senior leader in primary and community care will bring us valuable and contrasting perspectives from inside and outside of hospitals.

“Both David and Thea also have recent experience at board level in a diverse range of organisations across health and social care. I very much look forward to working with them as the Nuffield Trust develops and implements its five year strategy from 2020."
