Dr Benedict Rumbold is an experienced policy analyst and researcher and leads the Nuffield Trust's work on bioethics. He trained in history at the University of Cambridge and holds a Masters in Philosophy from the University College London as well as a PhD in moral philosophy from Birkbeck College, University of London.
Benedict joined the Trust in November 2008 after completing a PhD on Spinoza’s metaethics, for which he received a doctoral research grant from the Art and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
He now specialises in questions of distributive justice in health care, focusing in particular on issues of rationing and priority setting.
Benedict is a Visiting Fellow at the Nuffield Trust whilst on sabbatical leave at University College London until 31 March 2015.
