Kate Walker completed her PhD in 2006 at UCL and worked for a year at Queen Mary University as a research fellow in the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine. She joined LSHTM in 2007 in the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health, and started her current role, attached to the Royal College of Surgeons, in February 2011.
