Measurements were made of the effect of such systems on the work of a practice and the time patients wait to see the doctor, and surveys were carried out to ascertian the views both of doctors and of the public.
Various recommendations are made on the design and operation of appointment systems for doctors thinking of introducing them into their own practices.
