This report does not address the totality of the NHS/university interface. It is principally concerned with the more limited topic of managing the tripartite mission in major centres, in which the complex components of health service provision, research and education are combined across organisational boundaries. It focuses particularly on the relationship between university medical schools and university teaching hospitals.
