Board of trustees

Our trustees meet as a board four times a year and consider all matters relating to governance. Their role is to set the Nuffield Trust’s overall strategic direction and to ensure this meets the charitable objectives set for the organisation.

To ensure the most effective governance and strategic oversight, our Board of Trustees is composed of individuals holding senior positions across a diverse range of health and care settings. This structure brings invaluable expertise and insight but may, at times, present unavoidable conflicts of interest. We acknowledge these potential conflicts as a natural consequence of engaging some of the sector’s most experienced and capable leaders. We place our faith in our trustees to exercise sound judgment, to declare any conflicts transparently, and to recuse themselves from discussions or decisions where appropriate. Their integrity and professionalism are central to maintaining the Board’s effectiveness and public trust. If you are concerned about anything which might impact our work, please see our complaints procedure.
