The effects of structural racism are evident within the NHS, with cultural biases against patients and health care professionals creating disparities in health outcomes as well as barriers to career progression, workplace discrimination, and unequal opportunities for training and development. At the 2025 Summit we explored issues around culture and race - what is still missing from the broader conversation on racism in the NHS and social care, and how do we take the friction out of making progress on EDI?

The Nuffield Trust is an independent health think tank. We run a range of free virtual and in-person events to stimulate discussion, bring people together and generate debate. They are a forum to provide evidence-based research and policy analysis, and an opportunity to share good practice through presentations and networking.
